Merin Joseph is a 2012 batch IPS officer from the Kerala cadre. Born on April 20, 1990, in Ernakulam, Kerala, she spent her formative years in Delhi. She completed her schooling at the Convent of Jesus and Mary School, New Delhi, and pursued an MA in History from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University. At the age of 22, she secured AIR 188 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2012 in her first attempt. Known for her dedication and courage, she gained national attention in 2019 for extraditing a child rape accused from Saudi Arabia. She has served in various capacities, including as the Commissioner of Police in Kollam, Kerala.
